well any one who has ever bought a car of any kind will know of the feeling that you have been done. i was in the motor trade for most of my working life and i have had a few bad buys, one that realy sticks in my head was a 88 full size bronco that a dealer in shefield had. it was a non runner, i drove over with a pal and a trailer i had hired for the day, i met the seller at his storage barn and had a look round the bronco it looked it not to bad condition and worth doing we agreed a price , pushed the bronco out side he locked his doors and left us to load it . only then did we relize it was to wide for the trailer, and the bronco was left outside while we drove back to wigan to get another trailer . the hire firm had to ring around to find a trailer that would take the bronco we got the trailer at about 5 oclock and set of again to shefield. when we got there we found that the whinch did not work so we spent the next two hours pulling it on with the ratchet straps. we got home at 0ne o clock the next morning. after a few hours sleep i checked out the starting problem only to find it was a 351 not a 302 which has diferent timing, so i got it running but when i put a few gallons of fuel in it came straight out of the tank, that nice new underseal was covering a rotten tank, while underneath i found that the back end of the transfer box was corroded away and so was part of the floor . it turned out that the bronco had been owned by a boat enthusiast and he used to back his boat trailer down the slipway and while out on the boat he would leave the car part in the salt water so after a few years of that it started to fall apart. to get it good again we had to fit a new tank a new ecu all the dash clocks and all switches all body mounts and reweld the floor and a replacement gearbox plus all the normal things like brakes exhaust and the other service items, in the end it was a good car tht stayed in the family for a few years and is still going strong as i saw it on ebay a few months ago. so heres hoping no other members have as bad an experience. malc
